The crucial matter, whether in personal self-defense or as a volunteer on a church security team, is to be constantly ready. Just as the Israelites were in the Bible’s Old Testament, armed and ever watchful for enemy attacks while they rebuilt Jerusalem’s city walls:
“We prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.” — Nehemiah 4:9
“Each carried his weapon, even to go for water.” — Nehemiah 4:23

As retired police officer Greg Ellifritz says on his Active Response Training blog, “I’ve written numerous articles about how I feel comfortable carrying a small snub revolver in my low crime neighborhood. No more. You may not be dealing with the lone crackhead robber anymore. If you have to fight against multiple motivated terrorists armed with explosives and long guns, your .38 snub is the wrong tool for the job.

The benefits of all-the-time concealed carry are:
- Personal and family protection: It provides the means to protect yourself and your loved ones against violent crime without having to wait for law enforcement to arrive, a response time that may be too long in a dangerous situation.
- Instant response: Concealed carry allows for a rapid response to emergencies, which can be crucial in situations where every second counts.
- Deterrence: The mere possibility of an attacker being armed can deter a criminal from choosing you as a target. Studies suggest that criminals are less likely to attack if they believe their victim may be armed.
- Increased situational awareness: Carrying a firearm can lead to a heightened sense of awareness of your surroundings and potential threats, helping you avoid dangerous places and stay prepared for any eventuality.
- Tactical advantage: It provides a tactical advantage in dangerous situations, as you have an effective tool to mount a defense.
- Peace of mind: For some, concealed carry provides personal peace of mind, knowing they are prepared to handle potential threats like a mugging or carjacking.
